Sociocracy and You
At Agile Collective we embrace the principles behind Sociocracy - effectiveness, equivalence and transparency - in all aspects of our work.
Employees
As an employee, you will need a good understanding of Sociocracy, therefore it would be good to have read through all of this documentation.
Responsibilities
- Attend general circle meetings whenever possible
Docs of particular relevance
- What is Sociocracy - A background of what Sociocracy is to us as an organisation along with links for further reading.
- Our Structure - This is a diagram to best explain how the circles relate to one another (think of this as an alternative to a top-down hierarchy)
Members
The organisations structure affects you, as members, more than anyone else, as you are the ones involved in tasks which would otherwise be handled by "senior teams" in other organisations.
Responsibilities
As a member, there are default responsibilities you will have relating to our Sociocratic structure, so that decisions can be made in a way we all feel suitably informed about.
- Attend all member circle meetings where possible
- Attend general circle meetings whenever possible
Docs of particular relevance
As a member, you will often have many roles in meetings and how the organisation progresses, therefore it would be good to have read through all of the resources we have setup in the Sociocracy resources section of this handbook.
Apprentices
As an apprentice, you will need a general understanding of Sociocracy to be a part of our meetings, and understand the underpinning processes within Agile Collective.
Therefore you would first need to read through (and understand) the basics outlined below in "Docs of particular relevance" and looking at some of the resources available.
Once you have done this, it would be helpful to continue reading through the other documents within this handbook, as it will all be helpful and interesting as a part of your learning.

Docs of particular relevance
As clients, you don't need to have a working knowledge of Sociocracy, but we hope you will enjoy the aspects of it that you see - you might notice it in the way we run our meetings or in project reviews.
Below are some background reading ideas for if you'd like to find out more.
